Sulphites Allergy Alert – Macapuno String Coconut Sport in Syrup

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Monday 2nd April 2012:

Manning Impex Ltd withdraws one batch of Buenas brand Macapuno String Coconut Sport in Syrup due to the undeclared presence of sulphur dioxide.

Risk:

A single batch of the above product has been found to contain undeclared sulphur dioxide. This makes the product a potential health risk for people who are sensitive to sulphites.

Best before: End of August 2013

Action taken by the company:

The company has withdrawn the affected batch. Customers with sensitivity to sulphur dioxide are advised not to eat this product. In addition, the relevant allergy support organisations have been contacted, which will inform their at-risk members of the withdrawal.

No other Manning Impex Ltd products are known to be affected.
