Soya Allergy Alert – Asda’s own Croissants

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Friday 1st July 2011:

Asda withdraws one date code of its own brand croissants due to a packaging error resulting in incorrect allergen information

Due to a packaging error, the above product has been packed with ASDA Chocolatines instead of croissants. As a result, the product presents a potential health risk for people who are allergic to soya.

Best before date: 19/07/11

Action taken by the company:

The company has withdrawn the affected product and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their at-risk members of the withdrawal. Notices are being displayed in all stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the withdrawal and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. No other Asda products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers:

Customers who have a soya allergy are advised not to eat this product.
