Nut Allergy Alert. Morrison’s withdraws “The Best Fruit Muesli”

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Thursday 16th June 2011:

Morrisons withdraws its own-brand The Best Fruit Muesli due to a packaging error resulting in incorrect allergen information.

The Best Fruit Muesli 500g

Risk:

Due to a packaging error, the above product may contain nuts. The presence of undeclared nuts poses a public health risk to those with a nut allergy (allergic to nuts).

Best Before Date : May 2012

Action taken by the company:

The company has withdrawn the affected product and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their at-risk members of the withdrawal. Notices are being displayed in all stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the withdrawal and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. Notices have been placed in national newspapers.  A copy of the point-of-sale notice issued by Morrisons is attached to this Allergy Alert.

No other batch codes or other Morrisons products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers:

Customers with a nut allergy are advised not to eat this product.
