Nut Allergy Alert – Asda’s Strawberry & White Chocolate Popcorn

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Tuesday 28th June 2011:

Asda withdraws one date code of its own brand Strawberry & White Chocolate Popcorn due to a packaging error resulting in incorrect allergen information

Asda Extra Special Strawberry & White Chocolate Popcorn, 150g

Risk:

Due to a packaging error, the above product has been packed with Pecan and Milk Chocolate Popcorn instead of Strawberry & White Chocolate Popcorn. The product therefore presents a potential health risk for people who has a nut allergy.

Best Before date: 04/11/11

Action taken by the company:

The company has withdrawn the affected product and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their at-risk members of the withdrawal. Notices are being displayed in all stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the withdrawal and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. No other Asda products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers:

Customers who have a nut allergy are advised not to eat this product.
