Milk Allergy Alert – Donegal Catch Limited Edition Fish Fillets

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Friday 8th July 2011:

Undeclared milk in Donegal Catch Limited Edition Fish Fillets in a golden breadcrumb (2 fillets 200g packs)

Allergen:

Milk

Ref:

N/2011/NI

Products:

Donegal Catch Limited Edition Fish Fillets in a golden breadcrumb (2 fillets 200g packs) batch code L 1 066.

Risk:

Due to a packaging error, some of the above product has been packed with battered fish fillets instead of breadcrumbed fish fillets. As a result, the product presents a potential health risk for people who have an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents.

Product Identification:

Donegal Catch Limited Edition Fish Fillets in a golden breadcrumb (2 fillets 200g packs). This product has been on sale since the end of March 2011. (Both battered and breaded fish contain the allergens wheat gluten, mustard and fish, Alaskan Pollock, which are declared on the label.)

Best before end: Sept. 2012
Batch Code – L 1 066
Pack size: 2 fillets; 200g

Action taken by the company:

Small quantities of the implicated batch were distributed to Tesco in Northern Ireland. The affected products have been withdrawn from sale.

No other Donegal Catch products are known to be affected.

Customers with an allergy or intolerance to milk are advised not to eat this product.
