Food Allergy Alert – Milk. Bakestone Fruited Scones

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Monday 15th August 2011:

Quayside Bakery withdraws certain date codes of Bakestone Fruited Scones due to incomplete allergen labelling

Bakestone Fruited Scones (6 and 4 pack sizes)

Risk:

Certain date codes of the above product contain whey without declaring the presence of milk. This makes the product a potential health risk for people who are allergic or intolerant to milk or milk constituents.

Product Identification:

Bakestone Fruited Scones (6 and 4 pack sizes)

Best before dates: All date codes between 10/08/11 to 18/08/11

Action taken by the company:

The company has withdrawn from sale all affected stock. In addition, the manufacturer will be contacting the relevant allergy support organisations who will inform their at risk members of the withdrawal.

No other Quayside Bakery products are affected by this issue.

Advice to consumers:

Customers with an allergy or intolerance to milk are advised not to eat this product.
