Egg Allergy Alert – Lamond the Baker recalls 3 products

The Food Standards Agency issued the following food allergy alert on Friday 24th June 2011:

Lamond the Baker recalls three products due to incomplete allergen labelling of egg

Allergen:

Egg

Ref: X/2011

Products:

Lamond Perkin Biscuit – pack of 10
Lamond Coffee Bun – pack of 8
Lamond Banbury Biscuit – pack of 10

Risk:

The above products contain egg, which is labelled in the ingredients list but not in the allergy advisory box. This makes these products a potential health risk for people who have an Egg allergy or are intolerant to egg.

Please note: It is only these three Lamond products supplied specifically to the Co-operative and Scotmid co-operative stores in Scotland that are subject to this recall. This is because it is only these products supplied to these stores in Scotland that have this allergy advisory box on the label.

Product Identification:

Lamond Perkin Biscuit – pack of 10
Lamond Coffee Bun – pack of 8
Lamond Banbury Biscuit – pack of 10

The affected products above all have best before dates between 08/08/2011 and 12/08/2011 inclusive.

Action taken by the company:

The company has recalled the affected products from Co-operative and Scotmid co-operative stores in Scotland. Product recall notices have been issued to alert consumers to the reasons for the recall and the actions they can take if they have purchased the products. A copy of the recall notice issued by Lamond the Baker is attached to this alert. In addition, the relevant allergy support organisations have been contacted who will inform their at-risk members of the recall.

No other Lamond the Baker products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers:

Customers with an Egg allergy or intolerance to egg are advised not to consume this product.
