Milk Allergy Alert – Morrisons Salt & Vinegar Rice Cakes

The Food Standards Agency issued the following allergy alert on Friday 11th March 2011:

Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC recalls all date codes of Morrisons Salt and Vinegar Rice Cakes due to possible cross-contamination with milk

Allergens: Milk (casein)

All date codes of the above product have been recalled, as testing has found the product has been cross contaminated with milk protein (casein). This makes the product a potential health risk for people who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or milk constituents.

Morrisons Salt and Vinegar Rice Cakes, 30g

Action taken by the company:

The company has recalled all affected stock. Customer notices will be displayed in stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the recall and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. In addition, the company has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations which will inform their at risk members of the recall.

No other Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers:

Customers with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents are advised not to eat these products.
This product contains milk which is not stated in the allergy advice box or in the ingredients list.
We are asking all customers with a milk allergy or intolerance not to consume this product and return it to their nearest store for a full refund.
No other Morrisons products are affected by this issue.
